When we tallied payout methods across all 245 verified platforms, one number stood out: 185 of them — 75% — pay via PayPal. That's the single most-requested filter in the directory, and for most cross-border workers it's the first question, before rates.
Why PayPal coverage is a proxy for legitimacy
Platforms that pay through established rails (PayPal, ACH, Payoneer) have passed someone else's compliance process. PayPal requires verified business identity for volume payouts — which is why "we pay to an internal wallet" platforms cluster at the scammy end of the space. A platform that publishes its PayPal payout page is making a verifiable claim; a platform that promises "points you can exchange" is not.
When to ignore the PayPal filter
Three honest exceptions:
PayPal. Phrendly, for example, pays ACH with daily express payout.
GoTranscript supports all three. If you're outside PayPal's coverage, these rails matter more.
Read the minimum-payout row before celebrating the method row.
- US/Canada-only platforms often default to ACH direct deposit — faster and cheaper than
- Transcription platforms increasingly offer Payoneer and even USDC alongside PayPal;
- Points-mall panels sometimes technically "support PayPal" at a punitive exchange rate.
